Frank San Martín to Highland Church

Frank and Zaira San Martin have been a huge blessing to our church.  Frank has served as our interim young adults associate for eight months.  Before that he had already been serving as our young adults minister on a volunteer basis for a couple of years.  Frank, along with his wife Zaira have poured themselves into our young adults and the ministry has flourished through them.

Highland Baptist Church in Waco has called Frank to be their Wellness Center Director.  As such Frank will be directing numerous programs and events that benefit the community in a holistic manner.  Thus, Frank has submitted his resignation as Calvary's interim young adults associate effective June 14.  His first day on the job in Waco is June 15.

We are very happy for Frank and Zaira because this a tremendous ministry opportunity for them.  God honors their dedication to ministry and their commitment to excellence.  When a church like Highland calls one of our young ministers we also consider it an honor and it gives us great satisfaction that Calvary counts with the caliber of ministers that are sought after.

Our purpose statement, "We exist to make disciple-makers for the glory of God among the nations," includes, among other things, the development of leaders that will go out and be a blessing elsewhere.  We have often said that we do not always measure our success by our capacity to retain but also by our capacity to release.

Having said this, it does not make saying "good-bye" easy.  We have grown to love Frank, Zaira and Zion.  They are like family and so this makes for a happy-sad occasion.  As Zaira is expecting a baby girl, the San Martin's move to Waco will be progressive.  Frank will commute to Waco while Zaira and Zion stay in the RGV through the fall.  Be praying for them as this will be a difficult transition for them.

Our young adult ministry is currently thriving and without a doubt the strongest it has been for many years.  Currently on Tuesday nights we have 40 to 50 young adults who gather for coffee, spiritual conversations and fellowship.  During the summer our young adults also have a breakfast in the student center at 9:30 AM on Sundays.  Many of them are involved in discipleship huddles.  Most of them are serving Calvary either in our student ministry or in worship or media or children's ministry or mobilization (local missions).

Frank and Zaira have built a team of leaders around them.  So as Frank transitions out, and Zaira remains for a couple of months, a team leader will be identified and announced.  Yet, the team leadership concept will remain in place.

Please pray for the San Martin's, for our young adults, and for the student discipleship pastor search process as we rejoice for what God is doing and as we trust Him for the future He has set for us and them.

On Sunday June 13 we will commission the San Martin's in our Sunday services.
