¡Bienvenido al Equipo Ronald Sánchez!

    Le damos la bienvenida a Ronald Sánchez (y su esposa Alex) al equipo Calvary.  Desde el día 2 de agosto Ronald sirve como el Pasante Asociado de Misiones.  Aunque dos de nuestros pasantes (Frank San Martin y Josh Rainha) han sido llamados a otras iglesias, contamos con la bendición de tener a Ronald en esta plaza a tiempo completo.  Esto es posible gracias a una alianza con el Centro de Involucramiento Misional de los Bautistas de Texas (BGCT) y el Ministerio Estudiantil Bautista (BSM) de la Universidad de Texas Río Grande (UTRGV).  El acuerdo es de dos años.       

    Aunque nuestro presupuesto de misiones ha aprovechado la oportunidad de una subvención de contrapartida ("matching grant") de la Convención Bautistas de Texas (BGCT), la mayor porción de la compensación de los Sanchez vendrá de fuentes fuera de Calvary ya que ellos han recaudado su propio sostén.  Ronald invertirá una cuarta parte de su tiempo en servicio al Centro Estudiantil Bautista (BSM) de UTRGV y tres cuartos de su tiempo en movilización y multiplicación desde Calvary.

    Ronald se reportará al Pastor Chad Mason y se enfocará primordialmente en la movilización de adultos jóvenes hacia la misión de Dios y en los esfuerzos de multiplicación, particularmente el inicio de nuevas congregaciones.  Ronald se relacionará a las nuevas obras en Donna y Reynosa, mientras también colaborará en el adiestramiento de otros iniciadores de nuevas congregaciones en el Valle.  Como miembro bilingüe del equipo, Ronald se relacionará a ambas la congregación en inglés como a la congregación en español.

    Desde luego que Ronald y Alex no son nuevos en Calvary.  Ambos han servido en el Centro Estudiantil Bautista mientras estudiaban en UTRGV.  Alex (Granda) Sánchez fue miembro de Calvary y fungió como pasante de misiones antes de casarse con Ronald.  Aún mientras pasaron dos años en Houston donde Ronald estuvo de maestro en una escuela pública, Calvary continuó siendo familia espiritual y círculo de amigos para ellos.

    Por algún tiempo el Pastor Chad ha estado mentoreando a los Sánchez al explorar su llamado al trabajo misionero internacional a tiempo completo, posiblemente con la Junta de Misiones Internacionales (IMB) de la Convención Bautista del Sur (SBC).  Es nuestra esperanza que en dos años como Pasante Asociado de Misiones en Calvary, Ronald (y también Alex) estén mejor preparados para irse al campo misionero internacional de tiempo completo.

    Ronald es hijo de pastor y de origen cubano habiéndose recibido de UTRGV con un título de maestro.  Alex es originalmente de México y recibió su licenciatura en biología de UTRGV.  Ambos aman al Señor, aman a Calvary, aman a los estudiantes universitarios y aman las misiones.  ¡Qué bendición y honor es tenerles en nuestro equipo ahora!

Welcome to the Team Ronald Sanchez!

        We welcome Ronald Sanchez (and his wife Alex) to the Calvary McAllen team.  As of August 2nd Ronald is our new Associate Minister of Missions Intern.  While two of our interns (Frank San Martin and Josh Rainha) have been called to other churches, we are blessed to have Ronald take this role on a full-time basis.  We are able to do this because of a partnership with Texas Baptists' Center for Missional Engagement and UTRGV's Baptist Student Ministry.  The intern agreement is for two years.

    While our missions budget has seized the opportunity for a matching grant from Texas Baptists, most of the Sanchez' compensation comes from outside Calvary as they have raised their own support.  Ronald will spend about one fourth of his time serving with the UTRGV Baptist Student Ministry and three fourths of his time in Calvary mobilization and multiplication.

    Ronald will report to Pastor Chad Mason and will focus primarily on the mobilization of young adults for God's mission and in multiplication efforts, particularly church planting.  He will relate to our current church starts in Donna and Reynosa, while also working to train other church planters to start new congregations in the RGV.  As a fully bilingual staff member Ronald will relate to both the English-language and Spanish-language congregations.

    Of course Ronald and Alex are not new to Calvary.  Both of them served in the BSM while in college.  Alex (Granda) Sanchez was a Calvary member and served as a missions intern before getting married to Ronald.  Even while they spent a couple of years in Houston where Ronald taught in the public school system, Calvary continued to be a spiritual family and a network of friends to them.

    For sometime now Pastor Chad has been mentoring the Sanchez' as they explore their call to full-time international missions service, perhaps with the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention.  It is our hope that two years of associate minister of missions internship at Calvary will better prepare this wonderful family for full-time international missions.

    Ronald is a pastor's son of Cuban descent and graduated with a teaching degree from UTRGV.  Alex is originally from Mexico and graduated from UTRGV with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  Both of them love the Lord, love Calvary, love college students and love missions.  What a blessing and honor is to have them join our team!

    Let's welcome them back to Calvary, pray for them, support them and make sure their transition from Houston back to the Valley is as smooth as possible!
