Josh Rainha Anniversary and Transition

We are so thankful for Josh Rainha who serves as a pastoral ministry intern at Calvary.  As Josh pursues his call to serve the Lord in ministry he currently serves in our preaching team which was put in place a year ago.  He leads the Wednesday night Remedy worship service for Calvary Students.  And for the last two years he has served as the worship leader for our Classic Worship Service (9:30 AM) on Sunday mornings.  On March 16 we celebrate his second anniversary in this role.

Josh has done an excellent job of leading the Classic Worship Service which consists of a "classy" blend of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs, combining orchestra, choral, rhythm and vocal harmonies to lead people to worship God through song.  This role requires a high level of skill and talent.  Above all it requires a surrendered heart, a flexible attitude, and a servant spirit.  Rainha possesses all these and for that we thank God.

For an entire year Josh has navigated leading this service through pandemic conditions, losing the wind instrument section and the regular participation of the choir, both of which are vital components for that service.  At times his team had to pre-record worship for live stream only.  Then working from a minimal number of team members and slowly building up for in-person services.  Sometimes leading in front of a camera with empty pews, other times leading a half-full worship center, but always smiling and pointing to Christ, his worthiness and sufficiency.

With gratitude for the testimony and service of this young minister, I announce that it is time now for Josh to transition to another area of service within this pastoral ministry internship.  March 28 will be his last Sunday as worship leader for the Classic Service.  He will now transition into our missions mobilization team, something that is big in his heart.  Rainha will continue to serve in our preaching team, lead the Calvary Students' Remedy worship and spend some time doing mobilization of young adults into God's mission in the world.

As you have the opportunity extend your appreciation to Josh for his service and offer him your encouragement.  Most of all keep him and his wife Maddie in your prayers.  They are a wonderful couple who are pouring their lives into students and young adults.  We are blessed to have them in our midst.

Starting on April 11 Dan Cather will be the "new" Classic Worship Service leader.  Dan is no stranger to the Classic Service, as he plays the piano masterfully there, accompanies the choir, and has led worship on multiple occasions.  This is not the first time Dan is in charge of that service.  He did so in the past, as you can see in my blog post from October 2014.  We are so thankful for Dan's willingness to step up to this role as he leads a very talented team of musicians and prompts us to worship God.
